Addison Abubakarr Tarawally, a youth ministry project officer was reportedly assaulted and mistreated by a group of individuals, one of whom was identified as Zainab Sesay.
On Tuesday, March 11, 2023, Zainab Sesay appeared before Magistrate Hadiru Daboh of Court No. 3 Ross Road, Freetown, on two charges.
The first count indicated an offense of wounding contrary to Section 20 of the Offenses Against the Person Act, 1861, and assault causing actual bodily harm, contrary to Section 47 of the same act. According to the charge sheet, Zainab Sesay maliciously wounded Addison Abubakarr Tarawally on Friday, January 27, 2023, at Lions’ Field, Kissy Dockyard, Freetown.
The second count specified that Zainab Sesay assaulted Addison Abubakarr Tarawally in a way that resulted in actual bodily harm on the same day and at the same location.
Addison Abubakarr Tarawally informed the court that Zainab Sesay and several other individuals whom he could not identify had attacked him at the field, beat him severely, and stole his phone worth five million Leones.
He claimed that he was rescued by a soldier, and while Zainab Sesay was apprehended, the others fled the scene.
Sesay’s relatives had reimbursed the cost of the phone, but the case was still under investigation.
Zainab Sesay was remanded in custody until April 21, 2023. Sergeant 9095 Hassan Fofanah was the prosecutor in the case.
