Magistrate Santigie Bangura of the Pademba Road Court No. 2 in Freetown on Thursday 22nd August 2024 remanded Abu Bakarr Yillah a 47-year-old OSD Officer who was attached to the Operations Division Wing, Kambia Police Station for allegedly killing one Fasineh Bangura.
The accused made his first appearance before the Court on a count of murder contrary to Section 1 of the Offences Against the Person’s Act 1861, as repealed and replaced by Section 1(a) of the schedule of the Abolition of the Death Penalty Act 2021, Act No 6 of 2022.
According to the charge sheet, it was alleged that the accused Abu Bakarr Yillah on Wednesday 13th July 2022, at Yana Village, in the Tambakha Yombagie Chiefdom, Northwest Region did murder one Fasinch Bangura.
The accused Abu Bakarr Sillah made no plea after the charge was read and explained to him as he was also was unrepresented.
The Prosecutor, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Sorie Conteh requested for an adjournment after he informed the bench that his witnesses were absent and could not proceed with the matter.
Magistrate Santigie Bangura granted the Prosecutor’s application and remanded the accused in prison and adjourned the matter to the 26th August, 2024.
