Panic gripped passengers aboard a Freetown ferry earlier today as a violent storm and heavy downpour rendered the sea extremely rough and nearly impossible to navigate.

In a video shared widely on social media, terrified passengers could be heard expressing fear and confusion. Several stood from their seats in a state of alarm, saying they could no longer see where the ferry was heading or even where it came from as visibility was almost completely lost in the storm.

“The sea is too rough. We can’t see anything,” a passenger said in the video. “Everyone is panicking and standing up we’re just praying to make it to land.”

The incident occurred amid severe weather conditions that struck the capital on Wednesday, with rain pouring steadily for over five hours. The heavy downpour and accompanying winds caused significant disruption across the city, including flooding, structural damage, and multiple safety concerns.

One particularly disturbing report emerged from the New England Ville community, where part of a perimeter fence collapsed and water swept through a home believed to be occupied by six people. Their whereabouts remain unknown, and they are feared missing.
