In an effort to complement President Julius Maada Bio’s vision of providing food security in Sierra Leone, Paramount Chief Sebora N’thelleh III of Yoni Mamaila Chiefdom, Tonkolili District, Northern Sierra Leone is currently engaging in huge agriculture.
The Paramount Chief focuses on rice farming which he said is to support the President’s Feed Salone project.
“I’m doing this to ensure there’s food security and sufficiency in the country thereby supporting the agenda of the President,” the Paramount Chief said.
The farm is located at Konta village, some kilometers off Mile 91. PC Sebora N’thelleh said agriculture is something Sierra Leoneans especially young people should treat with seriousness.
Cultivating a hundred hectares of rice farm is challenging and involves resources, and the Paramount Chief said he’s calling on the Government and other individuals to support his initiative for sustainable development.
The project, he said has provided employment for hundreds of Yoni Chiefdom residents especially women who are paid to do the work. During a visit to the farm by our medium, hundreds of women were spotted doing labour. The traditional leader said he can’t succeed without the intervention of the Government and Sierra Leoneans.
He called on colleague Paramount Chiefs to engage in agriculture because it would lead to sustainable development.
