police officers at the Njagbahun Police Post in Fakunya Chiefdom intercepted four men traveling with dismantled firearms concealed in a rice bag.
The routine checkpoint inspection, conducted around 5:00 PM by Inspector Milton Matturie and his team, revealed two dismantled single-barrel shotguns and a machete hidden among the suspects’ belongings.
The suspects, identified as Mohammed Bangura and Ibrahim Turay of Levuma Village in Kaiyamba Chiefdom and Idrisa Koroma and Morlai Kargbo of Mashacteh Village in Yoni Chiefdom, were traveling on a black and red TVS motorbike with registration number ATI 874. Their route was traced from Mashacteh Village to Levuma Village.
Inspector Matturie immediately informed his superiors and coordinated a rapid response. A team from the Operations Unit, led by Inspector Edmond Kassay and deployed in vehicle SLP 359, arrived promptly to assist.
The suspects, along with the seized items, were transported to the Regional CID Headquarters in Bo City for further investigation into their possession of dismantled firearms.
Regional Police Commander South, AIG Brima Kanneh, commended the officers for their vigilance and effective response, emphasizing the importance of such proactive measures in safeguarding public security.
He urged the community to remain cooperative with law enforcement to help maintain peace in the region.
