The Sierra Leone Police (SLP) have intercepted a consignment of 4,269 assorted swords and knives at the Water Quay Port in Freetown.

According to police sources, the seizure was made during a recent security operation, and the weapons were confiscated before leaving the port premises. Authorities have not yet disclosed the intended destination or purpose of the shipment.

Investigations are underway to trace the source of the consignment and identify any individuals or groups linked to the importation.

The interception has raised national security concerns, particularly regarding the potential for illegal arms trafficking.
