The Southern Region Police, under the leadership of Assistant Inspector General (AIG) Brima Kanneh, made a bold statement in their ongoing fight against drug abuse by incinerating a substantial amount of unclaimed narcotics at the New Barracks Police Field in Bo City.
The incineration included large quantities of Tramadol, Kush, and Cannabis Sativa, responding to growing concerns from local residents about the rising prevalence of these harmful substances in the region.
This highly anticipated operation was part of the Southern Region Police’s intensified efforts to combat the drug trade, sending a clear message about their commitment to protecting public health and safety.
The event attracted significant attention, with community members and stakeholders gathering to witness the destruction of the drugs and express their support for the police’s efforts.
AIG Kanneh, in his address to the crowd, emphasized that the Southern Region Police are taking a zero-tolerance approach to illegal drugs.
He commended the police team for their ongoing dedication to safeguarding the community and assured residents that this operation marked just one step in a broader, long-term strategy to eliminate drug-related activities in the region.
“We are determined to keep our communities safe from the dangers of drug abuse, and today’s action reflects our seriousness in this fight,” Kanneh stated.
One of the key figures in this effort, Detective Police Constable Mohamed Patrick Ngobeh, who has gained recognition for his vigilant work at the Fallah Checkpoint, was praised for his instrumental role in recent drug seizures.
His thorough inspection processes have significantly curbed drug trafficking in the area, contributing to the volume of substances destroyed during the incineration.
Ngobeh’s efforts were publicly acknowledged during the event, with AIG Kanneh encouraging him and others in the force to continue their relentless pursuit of justice.
Representatives from civil society organizations, local authorities, and military personnel from the 5 Brigade Gondama Military Barracks were also in attendance. Brigadier GM Bangura applauded the police for their transparent and accountable methods in handling the drug seizures, highlighting the importance of collaboration between law enforcement and the community in ensuring a safer environment.
Community leaders expressed their gratitude for the Southern Region Police’s decisive actions, with many emphasizing the importance of sustaining these efforts.
The incineration not only served as a powerful visual demonstration of the police’s commitment but also strengthened the trust between law enforcement and the residents they serve.
As the police force in the Southern Region continues to ramp up its anti-drug operations, particularly at critical checkpoints like Fallah, there is renewed optimism that such efforts will lead to a significant reduction in drug-related activities and foster a safer, more secure community for all
