The Regional Police Commander- South, Assistant Inspector General of Police Brima Kanneh, successfully orchestrated the arrest of a long-sought individual wanted in connection to the recent disturbances in Freetown.

The suspect, retired private soldier Sheku Conteh, purportedly bearing force number 18172429, had eluded authorities following the upheavals in Freetown’s Jendema/Mano River Division. Acting on a tip from a concerned citizen, the police managed to locate and apprehend Conteh during daylight hours.

AIG Kanneh, lauding his officers’ swift and coordinated efforts, revealed that meticulous tracking and substantial evidence accumulation led to obtaining a warrant for Conteh’s arrest. Without any untoward incident, law enforcement officers in the South cornered and detained the wanted individual.

Now in police custody since his arrest, Conteh faces charges associated with the alleged crimes linked to the earlier disturbances in Freetown. The ongoing investigation, conducted by the Regional Criminal Investigation Department (CID) South, aims to uncover further details pertaining to Conteh’s suspected criminal activities.

This successful arrest underscores the relentless dedication of the Southern Region’s law enforcement in upholding community safety and security. It serves as a potent reminder that, regardless of the duration of evasion, the police persist in their pursuit of justice.
