The Deputy Head Sierra Leone Police Media, ASP Mohamed Bobson Senu, has provided lastest updates on the issues surrounding the alleged drug lord, Jos Leijdekkers amidst the growing concerns regarding his presence in the country.

Leijdekkers, also known as “Bolle Jos,” has been reportedly hiding out in Sierra Leone since early 2023. He was sentenced in absentia to 24 years for drug trafficking, armed robbery, and ordered murder in the Netherlands, and an additional 10 years in Belgium. Dutch prosecutors are working with Sierra Leonean authorities to facilitate his capture, offering a €200,000 reward for his arrest.

In relations to that, ASP Bobson Senu has confirmed that the investigation has been in progress, and further described the process as a joint investigation with diplomatic procedures. He asserted that the issue is now handled by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

Whatsoever help they need from the police, he promised that they would make their service available at anytime and anywhere. He stressed, “we will intervene into some of those issues that warrant the police to do.” He reiterated that much of the work regarding the issue is been carried out by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

The ASP argued that the investigation is not as easy as something which can be executed and completed over a short period of time, stressing that it is a gradual process. He further affirmed, “it requires international cooperation and therefore it takes a time to ensure that all what we need to ensure and ascertain the fact that this is the information we will come up with.”

The ASP further reaffirmed that they are considering that trend because the process is a joint investigation. “When we talk of joint investigation, we have a central or vocal person to inform as to when and how far the investigation has gone. That can be done by no less a person but the Minister of Information and Civic Education, Chenor Bah, base on all the facts relating to the investigation,” he concluded.
