In the ongoing YSC Lebanese riot case, police have tendered key statements from the accused as evidence. Ali Jaffal, Abdul Jaffal, Abdallah Jaffal, Mohamed Jaffal, Abass Antar, Naif Antar, and Hassan Jaffal appeared before Magistrate Santigie Bangura at Pademba Road Court No.2 in Freetown, facing charges including wounding, assault, and affray related to a violent incident at the Young Sports Club on April 6, 2024.
Prosecution witnesses, including Sergeant Alusine Forlarine, Inspector Mohamed Kargbo, and DPC Bockarie Tunde, detailed the process of obtaining and recording caution statements from the accused. The statements, recorded in Krio and translated into English, were confirmed by the accused through thumbprints.
The defense cross-examined the witnesses, and Magistrate Bangura has adjourned the case to August 14, 2024, with bail conditions continuing for all the accused.
