In a bid to maintain public order, law enforcement agencies swiftly apprehended a group of protesters conducting an unauthorized demonstration at Foamex Junction, Calabatown earlier today.

The timely intervention of the joint security patrol operations, led by the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) and the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF) personnel in Freetown-East, resulted in the arrest of eight individuals.

The suspects, identified as John Bangura, Tejan Conteh, Ibrahim Samuel Foday, Gibrilla Sesay, Mohamed Kargbo, Junior Sahr Boima, Alusine Kamara, and Mohamed Junior Mansaray, were apprehended along with their placards, which were deemed disruptive to public peace.

The arrested individuals were subsequently transported to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Headquarters in Freetown, where they are currently held for further investigation. The CID will thoroughly examine the circumstances surrounding the unlawful demonstration and ascertain any potential legal implications.
