Pujehun Police Division, under the leadership of the proactive Superintendent Rashid Osman Koroma, carried out a swift and impactful operation on Tuesday, August 29th, 2023 in a resolute effort to combat the pervasive threat of dangerous and harmful drugs.
The operation, aptly named “Operation No More Ghettos,” marks the first step of the division’s strategic plan to rid the main township of Pujehun, situated in Kpanga Chiefdom of Pujehun District, of the scourge of drug-related criminal activities.
The operation commenced at 8 a.m. and concluded at 1:30 p.m Under the watchful eyes of Superintendent Koroma himself, the police executed a meticulously planned operation that saw the complete demolition and dismantling of notorious drug hotspots in the area.
The ghettos and drug cartels felt the brunt of the operation including Bottom Mango, Sharkpa Store/Port Loko, Cane Stick/Mamie Dowie, Old Town Cemetery, and Y-Junction/Pascash.
Rather than arresting suspects in this initial wave, the focus of the operation was on demolishing the illegal establishments. The only exception was at the Y-Junction, owned by one Mr. Fullah, where a comprehensive search warrant was executed for the entire premises, including three dwelling houses.
During the search, startling discoveries were made, including five sachets of kush, quantities of tramadol, free health care malaria tablets, free quality education exercise books and textbooks, assorted pharmaceutical drugs, and substantial quantities of iron rods and used zincs suspected to be unlawfully possessed. Intriguingly, Mr. Fullah absconded the scene, while his wife, Mrs. Fullah, was apprehended for further investigation.
The strategic approach to this operation is centered around its effectiveness and impact. Superintendent Koroma emphasizes that there will be no more hiding places for criminals in the district. This method of operation will extend to other major towns and chiefdoms within his Area of Responsibility (AOR). The adaptable nature of the operation’s strategy underscores the division’s commitment to success.
As Operation “No More Ghettos” gains momentum, it underscores the unwavering commitment of the Pujehun Police Division to curb the drug menace. With resolute leadership and strategic planning, the division is poised to secure a brighter and safer future for Pujehun District and beyond.
