The Pujehun District Students Association (PuDSA) has successfully conducted its National Presidential Election for the 2025–2026 academic year at the PDEC School compound in Pujehun Town.

The election, which attracted students and key stakeholders from across the district, was conducted in line with the association’s constitution to ensure a peaceful, transparent, and democratic process.

Prior to the commencement of voting, the outgoing National President, Sahid P.J. Abu, addressed members of the association, reflecting on his tenure and encouraging students to uphold unity, discipline, and commitment to the development of Pujehun District.

He said his administration worked tirelessly to promote student welfare, unity, and academic excellence across the district and urged the incoming leadership to build on the foundation laid by his executive. He also called on members to maintain peace and respect the outcome of the election.

The Chief Election Commissioner, Idriss Massaquoi, later addressed the gathering, outlining the procedures and constitutional guidelines governing the electoral process. He emphasised the Commission’s commitment to fairness, transparency, and accountability.

Massaquoi disclosed that two candidates Albert Kuyateh and Mohamed Alie Kamara were nominated to contest the position of National President. However, he noted that Albert Kuyateh declined to participate in the election held on Sunday, January 25, 2026.

Despite his absence, Massaquoi said the election proceeded in line with the PuDSA constitution, which provides guidance for such circumstances, assuring members that all procedures were followed to maintain the legitimacy of the process.

At the end of voting and ballot counting, Mohamed Alie Kamara was declared the duly elected National President of the Pujehun District Students Association for the 2025–2026 academic year.

In his acceptance remarks, Kamara expressed appreciation to students for the confidence reposed in him and commended the outgoing president and his executive for their dedication and service to the association.

He said his leadership would prioritise unity, student empowerment, academic advocacy, and effective representation of students’ interests at both district and national levels. He also called on all students to work together for the progress and success of PuDSA.

The election concluded peacefully, further strengthening the democratic culture of the Pujehun District Students Association.
