The Pujehun District Students Association (PuDSA) has successfully conducted its National Presidential Election for the 2025–2026 academic year at the PDEC School compound in Pujehun Town.
The election, which attracted students and key stakeholders from across the district, was conducted in line with the association’s constitution to ensure a peaceful, transparent, and democratic process.
Prior to the commencement of voting, the outgoing National President, Sahid P.J. Abu, addressed members of the association, reflecting on his tenure and encouraging students to uphold unity, discipline, and commitment to the development of Pujehun District.
He said his administration worked tirelessly to promote student welfare, unity, and academic excellence across the district and urged the incoming leadership to build on the foundation laid by his executive. He also called on members to maintain peace and respect the outcome of the election.
The Chief Election Commissioner, Idriss Massaquoi, later addressed the gathering, outlining the procedures and constitutional guidelines governing the electoral process. He emphasised the Commission’s commitment to fairness, transparency, and accountability.
Massaquoi disclosed that two candidates Albert Kuyateh and Mohamed Alie Kamara were nominated to contest the position of National President. However, he noted that Albert Kuyateh declined to participate in the election held on Sunday, January 25, 2026.
Despite his absence, Massaquoi said the election proceeded in line with the PuDSA constitution, which provides guidance for such circumstances, assuring members that all procedures were followed to maintain the legitimacy of the process.
At the end of voting and ballot counting, Mohamed Alie Kamara was declared the duly elected National President of the Pujehun District Students Association for the 2025–2026 academic year.
In his acceptance remarks, Kamara expressed appreciation to students for the confidence reposed in him and commended the outgoing president and his executive for their dedication and service to the association.
He said his leadership would prioritise unity, student empowerment, academic advocacy, and effective representation of students’ interests at both district and national levels. He also called on all students to work together for the progress and success of PuDSA.
The election concluded peacefully, further strengthening the democratic culture of the Pujehun District Students Association.

The PuDSA 2026 election was not conducted in line with PuDSA constitution. The entire process was full of manipulation, deceit, and rough.
How can an someone aspire for a position and contest without fulfilling the position eligibility criteria as set forth in the constitution?
Infact, when IEC called for applications, he applied late after the submission deadline. So automatically, he was not supposed to go into the poll. But, because the IEC and the outgoing executive lack credibility and integrity, they allowed him.
Majority of the deligates (voters) did not partake in the voting process because of the dubious and irregularities that surfaced which the IEC failed to resolve.
And as far as democratic process is concerned, the majority will always win over the minority. But in the case of the stage-managed election, the reverse was the case. Mohamed Alie Kamara got minority votes and the IEC went ahead to pronounce him the winner.
Should i talk about the deceitful games of bringing people (relatives of Mohamed Alie Kamara and PJ Abu) that are not even student who came to represent institution they are never part of to vote?
What about the impersonation of PuDSA Chapter Chairperson position by some individuals to make deligates list for such institutions that they themselves are not part of? Like (FCMA Kenema).
What about those Chairpersons that have served their two-term limits as set forth in the constitution who were still chosen/allowed by the executive and the IEC to maintain these positions unconstitutionally and allowed them make deligates list on behalf of the those chapters.
So at this Juncture, Mohamed Alie Kamara Presidency is illegitimate, illegal and unlawful. We the general membership disapprove his leadership. And we will not work with him. Let the will of the general membership decide.
we are not going to allow such incident to happen in our association.
