Under the adept leadership of LUC Supt Rashid Osman Koroma, the Pujehun Division police wives convened at their Conference Hall on Saturday, 3rd February 2024, for a significant electoral event to determine their new Mammy Queen.

The event saw a spirited contest between two candidates, Mrs. Bendu Kagbeni and Mrs. Emma Mohoney, both vying for the esteemed position.

In a display of democratic participation, 50 police wives exercised their voting rights to decide the fate of the candidates. The incumbent, Mrs. Bendu Kagbeni, emerged victorious with 29 votes, while Mrs. Emma Mahoney secured 18 votes. Three voters were absent, and no void votes were cast.

The election, conducted peacefully under the supervision of LUC Supt Rashid Osman Koroma, received support from various stakeholders including the District Coordinator, ONS, Mr. Kargbo of ECSL Pujehun, and the press.

Before the voting process, Mr. Rashid Osman Koroma urged both candidates and voters to maintain peace and exercise wisdom in their decisions, emphasizing the importance of unity and collaboration regardless of the election’s outcome.

Mrs. Patricia Lombe Kobba, the support officer of Pujehun police division, assured the candidates and voters of the fairness and transparency of the electoral process, encouraging belief in the system and professional conduct throughout.

In her victory speech, Mrs. Bendu Kagbeni expressed gratitude to all who participated in the election, pledging to continue her efforts in advancing initiatives for the development of police wives in Pujehun district. She called for unity and collective action, emphasizing that development is a shared responsibility.

The election marked not only the selection of a new Mammy Queen but also a reaffirmation of democratic principles and the commitment to progress within the Pujehun Division police community.
