The Sierra Leone Red Cross Society (SLRCS), in collaboration with District Health Management Teams (DHMTs) and the Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI), has successfully concluded familiarization meetings in key districts, including Port Loko, Kambia, Bombali, Tonkolili, and Karene, as part of the Sierra Leone Integrated Routine Immunization project.

Under the theme “Find Everyone Everywhere”, funded by GAVI, the Vaccine Alliance, this initiative aims to bolster public health by enhancing routine immunization coverage, ensuring every child receives vital protection regardless of their circumstances.

The meetings brought together a diverse group of stakeholders, including paramount chiefs, religious leaders, district council health committee members, civil society organizations (CSOs), and other key community influencers.

These sessions served as crucial platforms to communicate the project’s objectives and emphasize the importance of routine immunization in safeguarding community health.

Key discussions focused on the role of paramount chiefs, whose engagement is essential in building trust and encouraging community involvement in vaccination efforts.

Chiefs were urged to leverage their influence to advocate for increased vaccine uptake, dispel common myths, and foster a supportive environment for immunization campaigns.

Additionally, religious leaders and district health committee members were encouraged to incorporate immunization advocacy into their outreach activities.

This unified approach aims to reach all segments of the population, especially the most vulnerable, paving the way for a healthier future for all in Sierra Leone.
