Former staff of the Sierra Leone Parliament, made redundant, are seeking their overdue benefits and possible reinstatement, expressing confidence in Clerk of Parliament, Hon. Paran Umar Tarawally, to address their grievances.

Many of these workers have been left jobless or, in some cases, have died since their redundancy, sparking concern and controversy.

They hope Tarawally will either secure their jobs or ensure they receive their end-of-year benefits.

The redundancy stems from a conflict between Tarawally and former Speaker Hon. Abass Bundu, which led to Bundu’s resignation. Bundu claimed that allegations against him, including sexual misconduct, were part of a smear campaign meant to deflect attention from a parliamentary employment scandal and corruption within the Parliamentary Service.

Bundu maintained that these accusations were fabricated to undermine him and protect those implicated in financial mismanagement.

Amid these controversies, the redundant workers continue to call for a resolution, urging action to either restore their jobs or provide compensation, while broader allegations of corruption and misconduct loom over the institution.
