Heavy downpours on Monday evening, July 1st, 2024 caused flooding in Regent Park.

The flooding, which began around afternoon hours affected a major bypass road linking the city’s west and east ends.

Regent Road is typically surrounded by hills, but due to what appears to be a blocked drainage system, rainwater overflowed and flooded the street. The blockage prevented water from flowing freely and diverted it onto the roadway.

The floodwaters caused significant traffic disruptions. Vehicles, including commercial minibuses (“kekehs”) and motorbikes (“okadas”), struggled to navigate the flooded streets.
