The Ross Road Police Division, in partnership with the military and Community Security Volunteers (CSV), held a major community outreach on Saturday, 15 November 2025, aimed at tackling the growing menace of Kush and other illicit drugs in local neighborhoods.

The initiative, led by Chief Superintendent Emmanuel Kpulun, featured a door-to-door awareness campaign encouraging residents to report drug-related activities.

The day began with a lively parade through the streets, culminating in a performance by Police Officer Leema, whose song “Kush and Illicit Drug Must Go” energized participants and drew strong community support. Stakeholders commended LUC Kpulun and his team for what many described as a timely and impactful intervention.

In his address, LUC Kpulun emphasized the need for close cooperation between communities and law enforcement. He described the event as a joint campaign with the military to eradicate illicit substances, particularly the highly addictive Kush drug. “We urge the community to be vigilant and report any individuals engaged in the drug trade,” he stated.

He also warned landlords and landladies against allowing their properties to be used for drug activities, noting that the government remains committed to seizing or demolishing such premises. CSV members were encouraged to maintain strong collaboration with the police.

ASP Francis Tommy, Operational Officer of the Ross Road Special Force team, reaffirmed ongoing efforts to dismantle drug cartels in the area. Highlighting a recent operation in Malta Lane, Fourah Bay, he commended Sergeant Major 15191 Samuel Dumbuya and the team for their proactive efforts.

The campaign also aimed to deter young people from engaging in drug-related activities. Mr. Melbourne Green of the Ross Road Police Division praised the CSV’s support and urged them to continue sharing critical information with law enforcement.

Among the participants, Madam Kadiatu Kamara of the Savage Squad danced alongside officers and expressed gratitude for the initiative. She reflected on the drug-related struggles in her community, noting that many residents share similar concerns.

The event reinforced the importance of community unity and vigilance. Residents expressed hope that partnerships with law enforcement will continue, helping reduce drug abuse and create safer spaces for families.

The Ross Road Police Division’s campaign stands as a model of proactive policing and community engagement, sending a clear message: lasting change begins with collective responsibility at the grassroots level.
