Costa Denison-George has been named as the new president of the Rotaract Club of Freetown-Sunset taking over from Nyakeh Stephen Gomeh.
Denison-George took his oath of office on Friday at the Orange Digital Centre in Freetown. He will steer the club till the next Rotary year which will start in July next year.
During the ceremony, outgoing president Gomeh appreciated his executive for lending their helping hands to push towards objects of the club.
“We started off with a tree planting project supporting the Freetown City Council’s Freetown the Tree Town Project,” he said.
He noted that his reign was successful as they were able to raise funds for charity work.
Gomeh said the club shared food, clothing and toiletries at an orphanage in December 2022.
He ended by appreciating their sponsor club, the Rotary Club of Freetown-Sunset.
Supervisory Rotarian, Ariana Oluwole was also present at the ceremony.
Oluwale appreciated the dedication of both presidents while urging rotaractors to continue doing good for the community.
“You showed unwavering commitment with no money but still push for the goals you set,” she said.
She pleaded with members to hold on to the spirit of togetherness at all times.
The Rotaract Club of Freetown-Sunset was established in 2016 but was officially chartered in 2017.
The club is one of 10,904 rotaract clubs worldwide and one of four rotaract clubs in Sierra Leone.
Rotaract clubs are humanitarian and non-religious organisations that assist communities especially deprived ones with service and finances through projects.
