According to the Nightwatch newspaper, tons of rotten rice have been imported after an earlier alarm was raised some time ago.

The newspaper reported in their Tuesday edition that importers have brought in rice with less quality and some that have already expired.

It is reported that the pussawa rice that is mostly consumed by diabetic patients because of its low sugar contents, has been substituted for a quack one.

There are complaints that government should investigate contractors since the new scam pose a threat to the health of thousands of Sierra Leoneans.

President Bio, in a visit to Moyamba, promised to prioritise agriculture in his second term. Presently the country spends an approximate sum of 300 million US Dollars to import rice which is used as a staple food in Sierra Leone.
