The Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF) has commenced a Commanding Officers Inquiry (COI) hearing to investigate personnel involved in the July 2024 subversion and the attempted coup on November 26, 2023.

The hearing, which took place at the Special Court for Sierra Leone in Freetown, is a crucial step in addressing the recent threats to national security and ensuring accountability within the military.

The following Commanding personnel include;

Major Pao Sesay of 14th Battalion,

Major J. Kabba of the Ministry of Defense (MOD),

Major FS. Kamara of the Joint communication Unit (JCU),

Major JA Bangura of MOD,

The hearing specifically focuses on two sets of personnel: six officers are being investigated for their roles in the July incident, while the others are linked to the November coup attempt. Witnesses at the hearing included legal counsels and senior RSLAF officers, who played a vital role in the proceedings.

Following the inquiry, findings will be submitted to the Appropriate Superior Authority (ASA), which will determine the necessary course of action, including potential discharge or a Court Martial trial for those implicated.

The RSLAF has emphasized its commitment to maintaining discipline and upholding the integrity of the armed forces, assuring the public that any misconduct will be thoroughly addressed.

As the investigation unfolds, the RSLAF seeks to restore trust and reinforce the principles of accountability and professionalism within its ranks, responding decisively to the challenges posed by the recent subversive activities against the state.
