The Resident High Court Judge in Port Loko District with special assignment in Kambia, Honourable Justice Sahr Kekura has sentenced seven people in Kambia town to terms of imprisonment after their convictions for various offences against the State.
The convicts: Alusine Conteh Alias (LAC), Amadu Jalloh Alias (Kayne West), Salifu Saidu Kamara, Hajaratu Osman Bangura, Gbassay Sesay, Mohamed Lamin Bangura, Saidu Bangura, Ibrahim Amara Kamara Alias (Dangote), Alimamy Kamara, were before the court to answer to various offences including Conspiracy to Commit Burglary and Larceny, Wounding with Intent, Children Cruelty, Larceny Cattle, Killing Animal with Intent and Shop Breaking and Larceny among others.
Alusine Conteh and Amadu Jalloh were jointly charged on two counts of Conspiracy to Commit Shop Breaking and Larceny contrary to law and Shop Breaking and Larceny contrary to section 26 (1) of the Larceny Act 1916.
According to the particulars of offence, Alusine and Amadu on the 18th day of October 2025, at Kukuna Road, Madina Town, Tonko Limba Chiefdom, Kambia District in the North West Region of the country, conspired together with other persons unknown to commit shop breaking and larceny.
They were alleged to have also broken and entered the electronics shop of one Chernor Jalloh and stole one Samsung Galaxy A05 android mobile phone valued three thousand five hundred Leones (Le3,500,00) and one Tecno Spark 40 android mobile phone valued three thousand five hundred Leones (Le3,500,00) among others.
Hon. Justice Kekura sentenced Alusine Conteh Alias (LAC) to (2) years on the conspiracy change and 8 years on the count of Shop Breaking and larceny. The 2nd Defendant (Amadu Jalloh) now convict was cautioned and discharged on both counts.
Gbassay Sesay and Hajaratu Osman Bangura were jointly charged on 2 counts of conspiracy to commit burglary and larceny and burglary and larceny for which they both were convicted. Gbassay was sentenced to 2 years for the offence of conspiracy and 8 years for the offence of burglary and larceny. Second convict, Hajaratu was sentenced to one year imprisonment or pay a fine of Le 1,000 for the sentence of receiving stolen goods.
Salifu Saidu Kamara who faced three counts including wounding and children cruelty, was cautioned and discharged on count 1 and sentenced to 6 months imprisonment or pay a fine of Le 500 to the State.
Mohamed Lamin Kamara who was tried and convicted on two counts: larceny cattle and killing animal with intent was sentenced to 6 years imprisonment, 3 years for each count. Saidu Bangura who was tried and convicted on the counts of Shop breaking and larceny and malicious damage, was sentenced to 8 years imprisonment.
Imbahim Amara Kamara Alias Dangote, who was before the court to answer for the offence of house breaking and larceny was convicted and sentenced to eight years imprisonment. Convict Alimamy Kamara was also given an eight year jail term after his conviction of the offence of house breaking and larceny.
The directive for the special assignment sittings is part of the Honourable Chief Justice Komba Kamanda’s commitment to take justice to all major towns across the country.
