A man was severely burned after being set on fire by two assailants in Kenema City on Saturday morning, February 7, 2026. The victim is currently hospitalized and police have launched an investigation.

Truth Media reports that the incident occurred around 6:00 a.m. in the IDA section of the city. The victim, Ibrahim Mohamed, stated that he was confronted on his way to work by two men who accused him of being an armed robber responsible for thefts at their place of employment.

Mohamed, speaking from his bed at Kenema Government Hospital, recounted the attack to journalists.

“They bought two liters of fuel, tied me down at the field, and set me ablaze,” Mohamed said. “My strength was gone. Thereafter, I was on fire. Only God could help me through a bike rider who saved me from dying.”

Mohamed, who works informally selling scrap iron, has denied the allegations of theft.

The Eastern Police Division has confirmed the incident is under active investigation.
