Chief Minister Dr. David Moinina Sengeh has announced significant progress in the implementation of the Tripartite Committee Report, revealing that over 80 percent of the 80 recommendations are either completed or in progress.
Speaking after a quarterly meeting of the Steering Committee tasked with overseeing the implementation process, Dr. Sengeh said the session was fully attended by representatives from across the country and all sectors.
According to him, recommendations aligned with the Constitution Review White Paper have already been prepared by the Ministry of Justice for parliamentary debate.
He further disclosed that the Public Sector Reform Unit is nearing completion of its review process for key governance institutions, including the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL), Political Parties Regulation Commission (PPRC), Independent Media Commission (IMC), Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC), Independent Police Complaints Board (IPCB), and the National Civil Registration Authority (NCRA).
“All institutions are actively delivering,” the Chief Minister emphasized, underscoring the government’s commitment to governance reforms. “When it comes to governance reform, President Bio doesn’t joke. Together, we are building a stronger Sierra Leone.”
Dr. Sengeh also confirmed that the opposition All People’s Congress (APC) has made changes to its representation under the Agreement for National Unity. He noted that the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Dr. Samura Kamara, has been replaced as Chief Negotiator by former Finance Minister, Dr. Kaifala Marah.
The Chief Minister said he looks forward to working with Dr. Marah in advancing the spirit of dialogue and collaboration established under the Agreement for National Unity.
