The Sierra Leone delegation has returned home after participating in the ITEPA II Final Conference held in Rome, Italy, under the auspices of international policing and security cooperation partners.

The delegation was led by the Assistant Inspector General of Police and Director of Operations of the Sierra Leone Police, AIG John Martin Senesie, who served as Head of Delegation. He was accompanied by Mr Joseph Saffa, Senior Assistant Secretary at the Ministry of Internal Affairs, who represented the Ministry as a delegate.

Furthermore, throughout the conference, delegates engaged in high-level plenary sessions, technical discussions, and experience-sharing forums focusing on modern policing strategies, operational coordination, transnational crime prevention, and institutional reform. The Sierra Leone team also held bilateral and networking meetings with counterparts from Europe, Africa, and other partner institutions to strengthen existing partnerships and explore new areas of collaboration.

According to police, the contributions of the Sierra Leone Police and the Ministry of Internal Affairs received recognition from conference partners, further boosting the country’s profile and credibility within the international security community.

Speaking after the conference, AIG Senesie noted that the outcomes align closely with the Ministry’s mandate to strengthen internal security governance, promote police professionalism, expand international collaboration, and support ongoing reforms within the Sierra Leone Police and related security institutions.

The conference brought together senior law enforcement officials, policymakers, and international partners to review progress made under the ITEPA II framework, share best practices, and develop sustainable approaches to international police cooperation, capacity building, and institutional strengthening.
