Thirty female officers of the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) have successfully completed a specialized training program designed to prepare them for deployment on international peacekeeping missions.

The certification ceremony, held on Friday, January 16, 2026, marked the conclusion of a four-day intensive course organized in collaboration with the British Peace Support Team–Africa (BPST-A).

The program focused on enhancing the operational capacity of female officers, covering critical subjects such as mission operational theatres, international law, human rights, and the strategic importance of networking within international mission environments.

Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Sahr Yomba Senesi, representing the Inspector General, presided over the closing ceremony. He characterized the training as highly relevant to the demands of modern peacekeeping operations.

“Effective collaboration and synergy within mission theatres are critical on the international platform,” Senesi stated, urging the officers to uphold these standards during future deployments.

The DIG commended the cohort for their discipline and professionalism and acknowledged the British Peace Support Team–Africa for their continued technical support in bringing SLP capabilities in line with international standards.

The event concluded with the formal presentation of certificates to the thirty graduates.
