A total of 142 Sierra Leonean diaspora pilgrims from the United States have departed Makkah by bus en route to the Hajj Terminal at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, as they begin their journey back to the United States following the successful completion of this year’s Hajj rites.

The group forms part of a larger contingent of Sierra Leonean pilgrims from the U.S. who participated in the 1447H/2026 Hajj. A second batch of 58 pilgrims is expected to depart today, 5th June 2026, bringing the total number of Sierra Leonean diaspora pilgrims from the United States to 198.

Speaking on the development, Idrissa Bah, Agent of the Sierra Leone America Hajj Agency and Coordinator for the Taskforce, commended the Presidential Taskforce on Hajj and the Embassy of Sierra Leone in Saudi Arabia for their support in ensuring a smooth and successful pilgrimage.

He also expressed appreciation to His Excellency President Dr Julius Maada Bio and Vice President Dr Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh for what he described as their unwavering commitment to the Hajj process.

Mr Bah further disclosed that his agency has secured a three-year contract with the Presidential Taskforce on Hajj, which will run from 2026 to 2028, aimed at strengthening the coordination and management of Sierra Leonean pilgrims in future Hajj operations.
