A tragic hit-and-run incident has left a single mother of six dead in the Waterloo area after an unknown driver struck her on Wednesday evening.

The victim, Marie Sesay, a palm wine seller from the Grafton community, was hit around 8 PM and rushed to Connaught Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries in the early hours of Thursday.

Moses Kamara, a relative of the deceased, explained that the woman sustained severe spinal injuries from the accident. She had been the sole breadwinner for her six children following the death of her husband seven years ago.

Residents and the victim’s family call on authorities, including the Sierra Leone Police and the Drivers’ Union, to expedite the investigation and bring the driver to justice.

Kamara emphasised the community’s reliance on government intervention, citing the devastating impact on the now-orphaned children.
