On Wednesday, 14th February 2024, former Vice President of the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ), Stanley Bangura Jnr, encountered a tragic accident around Mile 38 while en route to Makeni.

The incident involved a collision with a boy on a bicycle who sustained critical injuries and is currently hospitalized at the Emergency Hospital in Goderich.

Stanley Bangura Jnr promptly reported the incident to the police at Mile 38 and remained there overnight. Unfortunately, his vehicle fell victim to vandalism, allegedly by some members of the angered local community.

Adding to the unfortunate events, on Thursday, 15th February, colleagues of Stanley, on their way to deliver food to him, faced an unexpected and distressing situation when their vehicle caught fire (refer to attached pictures).

In response to these incidents, SLAJ President Ahmed Sahid Nasralla expressed sympathy, stating, “We sympathize with the family of the injured boy and wish him a speedy recovery. We also extend our heartfelt sympathies to our colleagues, Sallieu Tejan Jalloh, aka Sall Tee, and Stanley, for the unfortunate incidents.”

The SLAJ community is rallying together to support those affected by these distressing events, emphasizing solidarity during these challenging times.
