Mohamed Orman Bangura, the Minister of Youth, has come under fire from Jobo, a vocal supporter of the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) in Moyamba District.
In a video circulating on social media, Jobo described the Minister as “incompetent” and called on President Julius Maada Bio to dismiss him.
Addressing fellow supporters in the video, Jobo threatened to organize a protest if Bangura remains in office. He accused the Minister of failing Sierra Leone’s youth, particularly in addressing the rising issue of drug addiction. “The Minister has never engaged young people on this critical issue,” Jobo said.
Jobo further alleged that Bangura disrupted a barbershop project he was constructing near a car wash, which was intended to support local youth. He claimed the Minister destroyed the shop, slapped him in public, and even pointed a gun at him during the altercation.
Highlighting his dissatisfaction, Jobo stated, “We respect President Bio, but some of his appointees are sabotaging his government through their words and actions.” He warned that if Bangura visits Moyamba Junction, the reaction from the youth might escalate.
In addition, Jobo accused the Minister of misusing donor funds meant for youth development. He alleged that Bangura has diverted UNDP vehicles for personal use and relocated a fish pond project intended for young people to his private residence.
Jobo urged President Bio to remove Bangura in the next cabinet reshuffle, stating that the Minister’s actions undermine the administration’s credibility and the trust of the nation’s youth.
