Rainbo Initiative’s Solidarity Walk in support of survivors of sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) on Saturday drew hundreds of participants, reinforcing nationwide calls for the protection and empowerment of women and girls.
The march formed part of activities marking the global 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, held this year under the theme “UNITE to End Digital Violence Against Women and Girls.”
Representatives from Save the Children International (SCI), SEND Sierra Leone, PPASL, IREP, the Ministry of Gender, the Family Support Unit (FSU), teachers, persons with disabilities, community groups, and survivors joined the walk, delivering messages on the growing threat of digital violence and other forms of GBV.
Participants emphasized the need for stronger prevention measures, improved response systems, and sustained community engagement to protect women and girls.
Rainbo Initiative expressed gratitude to all supporters, noting that such solidarity demonstrates to survivors that they are not alone. The organization also commended sponsors and partners for enabling the event.
“Together, we are building a stronger, safer, and more compassionate Sierra Leone,” organizers said, adding that the campaign will continue until SGBV is eradicated.
