Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Pademba Road Magistrate Court No.1 in Freetown has remanded Mohamed Sesay on charges of threatening to murder, threatening to burn a house, and insulting conduct.
Sesay is standing trial before the court on three count of charges.
According to the charge sheet, it was alleged that the accused Sesay on September 27th, 2024, around 8:00p.m. at Freeman Drive, Imatt, Freetown threatened to murder his mother, Kadiatu Mansaray, and burn down her house. He is also accused of using disparaging language against her, intending to provoke a breach of the peace.
When the charges were read, no plea was taken. Inspector Sellub T.A.P. led the prosecution’s first witness, Kadiatu Mansaray, who identified the accused as her son.
Mansaray testified that on the day of the incident, her son threatened to kill her, insulted her, and vowed to set her house on fire, causing her deep shame.
The defense counsel applied for bail, arguing that the charges were billable; and stating, that the accused, a family man, could work toward resolving the matter outside of court.
However, Magistrate Kekura denied bail, citing concerns that Sesay would interfere with the witness, as they live together.
The case was adjourned to November 6th, 2024.
