A nursing student who was earlier reported missing after completing her hospital posting has been located, following what her family described as a kidnapping incident along the Freetown-Waterloo highway.
Susan Thoronka, a student at the Crown College of Nursing in Camp Junction, Waterloo, was reported missing on Thursday, 25 December 2025, after she completed her 8:00 a.m. shift at Connaught Government Hospital in Freetown.
Her disappearance prompted concern among relatives, colleagues, and members of the public after an initial report was published about her whereabouts.

A few hours after the publication, a family member of Thoronka confirmed that the family had been reached by the police.
According to the family, the police informed them that Susan Thoronka had been located in Masiaka, and arrangements were underway to collect her and ensure her safety.
The family further disclosed that Susan was reportedly kidnapped while traveling in a taxi from Freetown to Waterloo.

No additional details were provided about the circumstances surrounding the alleged abduction, and the police have not yet released an official public statement on the incident.
At the time of reporting, Susan Thoronka was confirmed to be alive and, in a hospital, receiving medical treatment, with efforts focused on reuniting her with her family. The identities of those allegedly involved in the kidnapping remain unknown.
