On February 26, 2025, Fourah Bay College student Blessing Victoria Cole appeared before Magistrate Shar Kekura in Pademba Road Court No. 1, giving testimony in the case of an alleged iPhone robbery.
Two men, Alimamy Sinneh and Alimamy Gbamkey, are facing charges of conspiracy and robbery with aggravation in connection with the incident, which took place on February 23, 2025.
According to the charges, Sinneh and Gbamkey are accused of robbing Cole at the Freetown Golf Club, Lumley Beach. The two allegedly used force, threatening Cole with a cutlass, and took her iPhone 11 Pro Max during the incident.
In court, Cole recalled the event in vivid detail. She explained that while walking home after a basketball game with friends, she was talking on her phone when Sinneh grabbed it from her. Despite being threatened with the cutlass, Cole said she fought back, leading to a struggle. During the fight, Gbamkey allegedly grabbed the phone and ran off.
Cole also shared how people nearby stepped in, leading to Sinneh trying to escape by running toward the water, where he was eventually caught. Afterward, Cole reported the incident at a nearby police post, where she provided a statement and showed the injuries she sustained during the robbery.
The case has now been transferred to Lumley Police Station for further investigation. In court, prosecutor CSP Bull requested an adjournment for the identification of the stolen phone.
Both defendants remain in custody and are scheduled to return to court on April 2, 2025, for the next phase of the trial.
