On July 16, 2024, Taiama Community Bank (TCB) in Taiama town, Kori chiefdom, Moyamba District, experienced a robbery. According to Evan Bundu, the Crime Officer at the Taiama Police Station, Idrissa Koroma, the night guard assigned to the bank and an officer of the Operational Support Division (OSD), reported the incident early that morning.
Koroma recounted that around 8 AM, approximately six men armed with machetes attacked, overpowered, and disarmed him. The robbers breached the bank’s security by breaking through the back fence and smashing a window to gain entry into the bank’s main area. Although they managed to enter the vault room, they were unable to access the main vault.
The robbers successfully stole 150,000 Leones (Nle 150,000) and the firearm that OSD Koroma was responsible for. Despite the severity of the incident, Crime Officer Bundu has assured the public that a thorough investigation is underway and urged everyone to remain calm as the authorities work diligently to resolve the case.
