Magistrate Marke Ngegba of the Pademba Road Magistrate Court No.1 in Freetown has remanded one Alimamy Kargbo, a mobile phone technician, for alleged possession of one black HELLAI pistol without a license.

The accused Alimamy Kargbo made his first appearance in court and was arraigned on four counts ranging from possession of arms without a license, unlawful concealment of arms, and keeping a greater number of small arms without a license, all contrary to the laws of Sierra Leone.

According to the charge sheet, it was alleged that the accused Alimamy Kargbo on Sunday 1st October 2023, at the Waterloo, Kono Park, was found in possession of one black HELLAI pistol with serial number BB 205218(9×19) spring held armory without license or lawful authority.

The police further alleged that the accused on the same date and place, was found having in custody one black HELLAI pistol with serial number BB 205218 (9×19) spring held armory without license or lawful authority.

It was further alleged that the accused person on the same date unlawfully concealed the said pistol without a license.

Count four added that the accused on the same date was found keeping one black HELLAI pistol with a magazine containing eight live rounds cartridges without license or lawful authority.

When the charges were read and explained to the accused person, he pleaded guilty to the offenses.

Prosecutor, Sergeant 9939 Lahai M Farma informed the court that there was an exhibit in respect of the matter and therefore told the court that he would send a subpoena to the exhibit clerk for him to come and tender the said exhibit in court.

After hearing from both the accused person and Prosecutor, Magistrate Ngegba remanded the accused at the Male Correctional Centre, Pademba Road, and the matter was adjourned to the 23rd October 2023 for the exhibit clerk to tender the items and ruling.
