The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Timothy Musa Kabba, has engaged members of the Mandingo community in Bo City as part of ongoing efforts to bridge the communication gap between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the general public.
The meeting provided the Minister with an opportuninity to outline the mandate and responsibilities of the Foreign Ministry, share updates on key diplomatic engagements, and explain how Sierra Leone’s interests are represented and protected on the international stage.

Minister Kabba stressed the importance of direct engagement with citizens, noting that an effective foreign policy must be understood and supported by the people it serves.
Members of the Mandingo community welcomed the initiative and called for sustained interactions, describing the engagement as a positive step toward improving public understanding of the work and role of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Mandingo is a minority but influential ethnic group in Sierra Leone. They are present in almost all districts in Sierra Leone with history tracing their roots to parts of Guinea and the Mandinka Empire in Mali and parts of Senegal, The Gambia, Burkina Faso and Ghana. Former Sierra Leone President, the late Ahmad Tejan Kabbah was an ethnic Mandingo and was regarded for his calmness and love for Sierra Leone.
