Tonkolili District Council is one of the largest Districts in Sierra Leone with nineteen (19) Chiefdoms. The District is endowed with a lot of mineral resources such as iron ore, gold, black stone, etc.
The Tonkolili District Council is charged with the responsibility of promoting development and also to improve on the livelihood of its localities with resources at its disposal.
The Monthly Council Meeting provides a general forum where elected Councillors discuss relevant issues to the well- being of Tonkolili District.
On Tuesday, the 24th September, 2024 the Council took the government closer to it people by conducting monthly Council Meeting at the BONGO LAND GUEST HOUSE MILE 91.
The Chairperson Madam Yabom Sesay in her opening remarks heartily welcomed Councilors, Paramount Chiefs, Sector Heads or representatives, Core Staff, the Press and the general public to yet another Ordinary Council Sitting at Mile 91.
She underscored the importance of bringing the Council to Mile 91 for few reasons, such as revenue mobilisation drive , MIRO company operations and service delivery.
She ended her remarks in a good mood to thanked all stakeholders especially the host Councillors for organising such official function.
She praised the current Chief Administrator Edward Alpha and team for bringing reforms to Tonkolili District.
In a nutshell, she reminded the general public that almost all the markets places would be rehabilitated under her leadership.
The host Paramount Chief also joined hands to thanked the Chairperson, the Chief Administrator, Councillors and Core Staff for such Initiative to conduct Council Monthly Sitting at Mile 91.
PC Bai Shebora Thelleh III in his statement, said that as ceremonial Chief he is overwhelmed to see the TDC hosting such a session at Mile 91, and he suggested that this phenomenon would be replicated to other Chiefdoms.
He pleaded to management of the District Council on behalf of his colleague Paramount Chiefs of Yonibana and Ro-Chain for Council to give a facelift on feeder road maintenance from the above named Chiefdoms.
The Chief Administrator Edward Alpha gave a full detailed of Council administrative report followed by Monthly Financial Statement.
Moreover, a symbolic handing over ceremony of waste skip truck was presented to stakeholders of Mile 91 by the Chairperson as promised by management of Tonkolili District Council for daily waste collection.
In another development, TDC would soon establish a revenue generation office operation at Mile 91 in order to boast own source revenue.
