Magistrate Sahr Kekura of the Pademba Road Court No.1 in Freetown has remanded Ansu Samura and Malcolm Kamara for allegedly breaking into the OSD Department and stealing properties worth Millions of leones after making their first appearance before the court.
The two accused persons Ansu and Malcolm are charged on two counts, ranging from conspiracy contrary to Law and House breaking and Larceny Contrary to Section 26 (1) of the Larceny Act 1916.
According to the charge sheet, it was alleged that both accused on Monday 15th January 2024, at the Operational Support Department (OSD) Compound Kingtom, Freetown, broke into the dwelling house of Ibrahim Sorie Mansaray and stole therein the sum of Three thousand, eight hundred new Leones (Le 3,800) and property of the complainant.
When the charges were read and explained to the accused persons, no plea was taken. The accused persons were not represented by a legal person.
The Prosecutor, Sergeant 9939 Mohamed Lahal asked for a short adjourned date for him to get proper conference with his witness.
Magistrate Sahr Kehkura refused bail to the accused persons and were sent to the Male Correctional Center in Freetown and the matter adjourned to 1st February 2024.
