The residents of Fullah Town, Waterloo, were left shocked and alarmed as they discovered two unidentified corpses of adult males in their community.
The bodies were found with harrowing injuries, including a deep lacerated wound on their foreheads, a broken leg, and numerous lacerations all over their bodies. The names and addresses of the deceased remain unknown, adding to the mystery surrounding the tragic incident.
Assistant Superintendent of Police, Alieu Jalloh, addressed the media during the popular ‘Morning Coffee’ program on the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC) on Monday, 17th July. According to Jalloh, the Waterloo Police received distress calls from Fullah Town residents on the morning of Saturday, 15th July, reporting the discovery of one lifeless body with severe wounds on the forehead and other parts of the body. The remains were promptly taken to the mortuary for further investigation.
Shortly after, another call came in from the Peninsular community in Waterloo, reporting the finding of another corpse lying in front of a gate. Both deceased individuals were taken to the mortuary for autopsies to shed light on the circumstances of their deaths.
Later that same day, around 10 pm, the Head Man of Russel Village, located along the Waterloo-Tombo highway, Paul Gorden, alerted the Tombo Police about a suspicious incident. Gorden witnessed a vehicle parked in the area, and unidentified men throwing something into the nearby bushes. Curiosity led Gorden to inspect the discarded item, only to find a man bound by his hands and feet with rope and severely beaten, but still alive.
The victim, identified as 21-year-old Baimba Tarawallie from Furniture Junction, Mayaemi Garage, Allen Town in Freetown, revealed to the authorities that his attackers had left him for dead. He was promptly rushed to the Intensive Care Unit at the Tombo Health Center for urgent medical treatment. Astonishingly, it was discovered that three limes had been cruelly inserted into his anus by the assailants.
In a shocking revelation, Tarawallie disclosed that he believed his attackers had intended to kill him elsewhere, but he was ultimately dumped in Waterloo to tarnish the community’s reputation. The headman of Russell Village expressed strong condemnation of the heinous crime and pledged full support to the police in bringing the perpetrators to justice.
Assistant Superintendent Alieu Jalloh called on the community to come forward with any information that could aid the ongoing investigation. Thanks to the efforts of the Local Unit Commander, CSP Ibrahim M. Samah, two suspects from Allen Town have been apprehended in connection with the case.
The incident has left the residents of Waterloo in distress and has drawn attention to a disturbing pattern. Authorities have noted a trend of criminals disposing of bodies in Waterloo to falsely portray the area as a dumping ground for corpses. Jalloh assured the public that they are determined to expose these wicked individuals and ensure that Waterloo retains its reputation as a safe and peaceful place to live.
As the investigation unfolds, the community remains on edge, hoping for justice for the victims and an end to such gruesome acts of violence within their midst. The police urge anyone with information related to the case to come forward and cooperate with the authorities in their pursuit of justice.
