Social media influencer and digital marketer Vickie Remoe shared a poignant message following the tragic death of Victor Onie Williams, expressing deep concern over the lack of empathy and the heartless comments surrounding his untimely passing.

In a heartfelt post, she reflected on how the community’s response to his death reveals troubling societal attitudes.

Vickie wrote, “Seeing the heartless comments around the call for justice for Victor Onie is so telling. I can only conclude that while some typed RIP, many more hated Onie for how bright he shone. You begrudged him ‘cause he was better than you, and now you kick him while he’s dead and gone.” She added that she could feel the envy and visceral hatred from those who resented Onie’s success, implying that some individuals were threatened by his achievements.

She continued by highlighting the stark contrast in how such tragedies are handled in other parts of the world. “Anywhere else in the world, a community would rally around his family, putting pressure on law enforcement to punish those responsible. Anywhere else, the community would want to stop this from happening again. But not #SierraLeone,” she lamented, pointing out the apathy and lack of collective action in Sierra Leone to seek justice for Onie.

Vickie also expressed a personal reflection on the unpredictability of life, warning young people who are talented and pursuing greatness to be cautious. “If I die tomorrow by some friend’s or man’s doing, I wouldn’t be surprised if you blamed me. To those of you who are bright and talented, blessed and boldly in pursuit of greatness, my only advice is to Beware the Ides of March!” she cautioned, urging the younger generation to remain aware of the dangers of success.

Although Vickie did not know Onie personally, she emphasized the human side of the tragedy, saying, “I didn’t know this man. He was not a friend, but he was somebody’s son.”

As a mother herself, Vickie reflected on her own child, who shares the middle name “Victor,” and thought about Onie’s mother, wondering how she copes with the loss of her son. “As I slept next to my child, I couldn’t help but think about Onie’s mother. Does she sleep at night?” Vickie poignantly asked.

Vickie’s post concluded with a powerful call for justice: #JusticeforVictorOnie and #RestInPeace, urging the community to stand in solidarity and ensure that the life of Victor Onie Williams is not forgotten.
