Communication experts, Vickie Remoe has given reasons the winners for the Vickie Remoe Prize for Journalism and New Media 2023, were selected.
“They’re driven by a passion for storytelling.
“Even when the career they’ve chosen may not be the most lucrative they stick with it because they love what they do,” she noted.
She added that the winners are resourceful; ready to work with tools available at their disposal.
Remoe furthered that the winners are intelligent and had the zest to tryout for the award even when they were unsure of winning it.
“There’s a lot of talented hardworking young people in Sierra Leone,” she said.
Remoe said most young people in the country could reach their full potential if given the right support.
Among the winners for the News Writing Prize is Sierraloaded’s Ibrahim Morlai Kamara who submitted a story titled “Everything I Have Worked For Destroyed In a Single Day” which was published on December 31, 2022 by Sierraloaded.
