Augustine Laima Bangura AKA (Dem Dad), a former APC councilor in Ward 434 in the Western Area Urban, which includes parts of Dworzak, Sumaila Town and Samie Town communities, complained that he did not receive a voter ID card.
According to Awoko, the ex-counselor mentioned that he was the first person who was at the Providence School Center where he registered to get his identity card, but unfortunately ECSL staff did not see his name or identity card on the electoral roll.
“I registered at this center, I checked and saw that all my details are correct, I just came here to get my card and then I got this annoying message,” he complained.
He furthered that he has been issued with an attestation by ECSL personnel at the providence centre.
This is not the only ID card issue missing in ward 434 as other people have complained about the same thing.
Abigail Kamara, another student at Ansarul Islamic Primary School in Sumaila, said she also went to get her identity card but was told her name and face were not on the voter list but she was given a receipt to vote if they can’t see it.
“I felt very bad because it is my right to vote, but if they don’t give it on time, I won’t vote, but they told me to wait and they will contact me,” she said.
Equally Kalmon Saffa a bike rider and registrant in Ward 434 also did not receive his card and said he was told by the man in charge of the Providence School Centre Mr. Sillah that they will get back to him.
“He only gave me his phone number and said he will get to me when they have my card, he did not give me any slip,” Saffa complained.
Providence school head Mustapha Silla said, they have heard a lot about these complaints and are doing their best to resolve them. He mentioned that they are telling registrants whose information is not visible to be patient.
“We’re giving them proof that they can vote on Election Day if they don’t see their records by then,” he said.
