The Inspector General of Police (IGP), William Fayia Sellu, has undertaken a working visit to the Freetown East Region as part of efforts to strengthen leadership engagement and assess policing operations on the ground. He was accompanied by the Director of Operations, Assistant Inspector General (AIG) Dr. John Martin Senesie.

The visit commenced with an inspection of the ongoing construction of the Freetown East Regional Police Headquarters at Ross Road. Guided by AIG Francis Meinday and Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Emmanuel Kpulun, the IGP toured the site and received a detailed update on the progress and design of the new facility.

IGP Sellu also visited the Calaba Town Police Station, where he inspected detention cells, the office of the Officer Commanding (OC), and other operational units.

At the Operational Support Division (OSD) base in Jui, the Police Chief was received by Superintendent Jusu. There, he observed the unit’s operations, particularly their enforcement of pedestrian use of the overhead crossing a measure introduced to curb frequent road accidents in the area.

The IGP then proceeded to the Waterloo Division, where he monitored traffic management and special duty deployments at Tombo Junction. He commended officers for their coordination and responsiveness in handling traffic and other policing duties.

The working tour concluded at the Rokel Police Station, where IGP Sellu addressed officers, emphasizing the need for professionalism, discipline, and an unwavering commitment to public service.

Speaking at the end of his engagements, IGP Sellu underscored that the visit reflects his determination to move away from “armchair leadership” by directly engaging with frontline officers and assessing real-time policing operations.
