The Ministry of Youth Affairs has updated the Public in a press release dated 3rd July on the Commencement of Payment to support the procurement of 50 Outboard engines to support 1000 young people engaged in active fishing in Seven Coastal districts.

The Ministry confirmed that the Project is in line with contributing to the job creation commitment made by His Excellency the President in Page -31 of the New Direction Peoples Manifesto, which seeks to provide the enabling space for direct involvement of youth in Agriculture, Livestock, Aquaculture and Value Chain.

The Ministry of Youth Affairs through the Youth in Fisheries Project confirmed that  it has received funds from the Government of Sierra Leone and United Nations Development Program (UNDP) amounting to Four Million Six Hundred and Nineteen Thousand Eight Hundred and Forty Leones

The Release states: “NSLL.4,619,840.00) as counterpart support to procure 50 outboard engines to support 1,000 young people engaged in active fishing across 7 costal districts of Kambia, Port Loko, Pujehun, Bonthe, Moyamba, Western Rural and Western Urban”

In view of the above, the Ministry further confirmed the disbursement of 30% advance payment and 40% progress payment amounting to Three Million Two Hundred and Thirty-Three thousand, Eight Hundred and Eighty-Eight Leones (NSLL.3,233,888) for the procurement of 50 outboard engines.
