Magistrate Saha Kekura of Pademba Road Court No. 1 has charged a 15-year-old, Milford King, and his accomplice, Nyakeh Lahai Kallon, with two counts of house-breaking and larceny under Section 25(1) of the Larceny Act of 1916.
The charges stem from an incident that occurred on March 3, 2025, at No. 3 Kamara Drive, near Milton Margai College Road. According to the charge statement, the accused allegedly broke into the dwelling of Amina Mans and stole cash amounting to Four Thousand New Leones, her property.
The second count details additional allegations that both individuals broke into the home of Miss Sarika Kamara, stealing various items including an engagement gold and diamond ring valued at Two Thousand United States Dollars (USD 2,000), an Apple AirPods Pro valued at Two Hundred United States Dollars (USD 200), a large tin of body Vaseline valued at Five Hundred New Leones (Le 5,000), an HP computer worth Five Thousand New Leones (Le 5,000), and a hard drive valued at Two Thousand Four Hundred and Forty New Leones (NLe 2,440). The total value of the stolen items amounted to Thirty-Nine Thousand Eight Hundred Seventy Leones.
When the charges were read, neither defendant entered a plea. Inspector Bangura M. presented evidence, including testimony from Witness No. 1, Amina Mans, a businesswoman who identified the accused in court. She recounted receiving a call from her daughter while at her shop, alerting her to the situation at home. Upon returning, Mans discovered significant damage to her home, including her kitchen door and the ceilings of several rooms.
Mans reported that her church bag, containing Three Thousand New Leones, was missing, along with a box that had been opened and contained One Thousand New Leones. After searching her room, she found a shirt that did not belong to her family, prompting her to notify her son’s friend, George, who later identified the shirt as belonging to Milford King.
George subsequently confronted King’s father, leading to Milford’s arrest. Mans reported the incident to the Adonkia Police Station, where she provided a statement.
During the hearing, the defense counsel applied for bail for both accused. Magistrate Kekura granted bail to Milford King in the sum of One Hundred Leones, requiring a surety residing within the jurisdiction and possessing a valid identification card. However, bail was denied for Nyakeh Lahai Kallon. The case has been adjourned to April 1, 2025.
