As the voting process nears its conclusion, party agents at Airfield area, Eastern Police Kenema, Centre code 02251, have expressed conflicting concerns regarding the conduct of the elections at the center.
According to our observer, Abu Jusufu Gamange, the SLPP agent praised the work of the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL) staff at the center and expressed satisfaction with the overall process. The SLPP agent stated that there is no reason to be alarmed.
However, the APC agent at the center raised concerns regarding challenges with the voter list for political parties. They noted that some names appearing on the voter list for political parties did not match the Final List of Voters for 2023, and vice versa. Fatorma M. Kallon, the APC agent, recorded a total of 15 names with discrepancies.
The APC agent indicated that this concern has been reported to their ward chairman and councillor for further action.
Musa Humpa Kamara serves as the PCM for Centre Code 02251, which consists of 5 polling stations with 1,400 voters. Musa reported a voter turnout of approximately 70-75% at the center.
Musa clarified that, at present, there are no anticipated challenges. Regarding the issue raised by the APC agent, Musa explained that it occurred due to a misplacement of names assigned to specific polling stations. However, the missing names were subsequently found at the neighboring polling station, and those individuals were allowed to cast their votes.
Musa Humpa emphasized that the relationship between ECSL staff and party agents has been cordial. He assured that his staff is under control and actively engaged in their work. Musa stated that first-time voters were provided with guidance on casting their votes to avoid any invalid ballots, and this knowledge was also shared with elderly voters.
He called on everyone to prioritize the interests of the country above all else.
