The Embassy of Sierra Leone in Germany has claimed that most migrants in Germany who claimed to be Sierra Leoneans are truly not citizens of Sierra Leone.

In a statement, the Embassy wishes to inform the general public that the Federal Immigration in Germany and the Immigration in Sierra Leone have agreed to engage experts from Sierra Leone on the identification mission to Germany to help identify the true Sierra Leoneans who are facing deportation threats in Germany.

The Embassy notes that most of those who claim Sierra Leone citizenship are truly not Sierra Leoneans.

The experts according to the Embassy will verify Sierra Leoneans from from non-Sierra Leoneans and report the outcome to the government of Sierra Leone for further discussion with the German authorities.

The Embassy recognizes the plights of Sierra Leonean citizens who are facing deportation challenges. It explains that it will continue to render its consular and immigration assistance to all true Sierra Leoneans living in Germany.
