Hon. Abdul Kargbo, the APC leader in Parliament, has expressed profound sympathy for the victims of the seven-storey building collapse in Shell, Freetown.

In his statement, Hon. Kargbo conveyed his heartfelt condolences, stating, “May the souls of those departed rest in peace. I pray that those who are trapped in the rubble are rescued as soon as possible.”

He also urged residents to be vigilant, advising anyone suspecting cracks in their buildings to relocate and report the issue promptly.

The tragic incident, which occurred on Monday, 16th September 2024, has resulted in a rising death toll of nine, following the recent recovery of a four-month-old baby from the debris.

The National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA) has confirmed this update as rescue operations continue at the disaster site.

Among the survivors, two individuals in critical condition have been transported to Choitram Hospital for advanced treatment. Meanwhile, other survivors, including a rescue worker, are receiving medical care at Rokupa Government Hospital.

The ongoing efforts by rescue teams aim to provide timely assistance and address the immediate needs of those affected by this devastating event.
