The Sierra Leone Police (SLP) have installed surveillance cameras across Aberdeen and Lumley Beaches ahead of the upcoming festive season.
The initiative is led by Inspector General of Police, Mr. William Fayia Sellu, as part of the SLP’s broader strategy to improve security in high-traffic recreational areas.
The installation covers key entry points, entertainment hubs, and popular gathering spots along the beach stretch. According to police officials, the cameras will support real-time monitoring, quicker response to incidents, and enhanced protection for both citizens and visitors during the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
The SLP says this modern surveillance system will help deter criminal activity, support ongoing patrols, and ensure that families and holidaymakers can enjoy the festive season in a safe and secure environment.
Residents and beach business owners have welcomed the development, describing it as a timely and forward-thinking move by IGP Fayia Sellu and his leadership team.
With thousands expected to flock to Aberdeen and Lumley Beaches in December, the Sierra Leone Police reassures the public of its commitment to maintaining peace, safety, and order through a mix of technology-driven solutions and increased ground presence.

The thing about Sierra Leone is, there would be black out and no backup power supply. By the time electric power returns, the cameras are gone
I want to know if the CCTVs the sierra leone police is installing are truly functions or they are just camouflage? Ever since they installed those cameras in Bo, they have not catched even a rat little to talk about thieves or those corrupt officers who are extorting money from bike riders.
